How to Choose a Dishwasher Glass Rack

Choose a glass rack by the dimensions of your actual glassware and dishwasher setup. Compartment count alone is not enough to establish fit.

Measure the widest part of the glass

Measure the maximum outside diameter, not only the base. A bowl, rim or handle may be wider than the foot. For unusual shapes, send photographs and measurements to Kenford rather than assuming a circular diameter fully describes the item.

Compare this measurement with the published compartment dimensions and allow the clearance recommended for the product. A glass with exactly the same width as a compartment is not automatically a safe fit.

Measure total glass height

Record the full height of the glass, including the stem and foot. The base rack and extender arrangement determine the available height. Ask the supplier to confirm usable clearance and the correct extender combination for the exact glass.

These figures come from the Kenford 16-compartment listing. Treat them as model-specific references and confirm the available internal clearance for your glassware.

Check the rest of the system

  • Dishwasher: confirm rack footprint, entry clearance and the manufacturer’s rack requirements.
  • Storage: check loaded rack height and stacking arrangements.
  • Transport: match any trolley or cover to the selected rack system.
  • Glass mix: separate substantially different shapes or sizes where a single configuration does not fit both.

Prepare a glass-rack specification

Send the glass name or code, maximum outside diameter, total height, quantity of glasses, dishwasher model and your proposed rack quantity. For a mixed service, include a simple list of each glass type.

Explore 9, 16, 25, 36 and 49-compartment options and rack accessories. Choose the configuration by fit and workflow, rather than by the highest compartment count.

Turn the guide into a product shortlist

Share product codes, quantities, measurements and delivery location. Ask Kenford to confirm specifications, intended use, availability and lead time for your selection.
